new member
hey, I'm a new member here..I only just reactivated my LJ...
At the moment I'm trying to make a mix CD for this guy I know. He's in a band.

I have a list of 46 songs I'm considering including. Obviously I want to cut it back a fair bit so I was looking for some advice on which songs to include..

oh and a bit about me...I like lots of different genres of music but recently I've been listening to a bit of indie. As retarded as it may seem I'm a big fan of the music from the oc mix CDs and most of the music they play on the show.

which songs shouldn't I include?Collapse )

Thought you guys might be interested that I'm turning my journal into a mp3 blog w/ posts on a semi-daily basis. Genres featured will mostly be hip hop, jazz, funk, R&B, and soul. Sometimes rock, spoken word, blues, and early 20s Black music will be featured as well. Also, once a week, I'll post a hip hop video from the 80s and 90s since I have a large collection of them.

You can check out my last three posts and see if the music suits you. Remember that each posts will contain *at least* mp3s in soul, jazz, funk and hip hop. More to come. Enjoy, share, and spread the word.

Leave feedback to let me know what you would like to see more of too. Requests are welcome.

Making a mixtape...
I'm trying to make a mixtape with songs that represent the mood I've been in lately. Most of which revolve around my ex-boyfriend. I need songs about feeling not good enough, still being in love with him, wishing to move on, feeling jealous of his current girlfriend, remembering the good times, regret, him changing, him covering up his feelings and/or being thankful for all the good times and the experience.

As for genre of music, I'm open to anything and everything.

Thanks in advance.

Hi. I have a huge favor to ask all of you. I'm in the process of putting together a mixed CD for my ska-loving boyfriend. It's for our 2 year anniversary, so I wanted to make a "ska love song" CD. Unfortunately, I've only just begun to get into the genre myself. I found the album Love and Affection: Ska in the Key of Love for some good ideas. I wanted to see if you all had any suggestions for love/romance/affection type songs. Anything will do, but his favorite groups are The Pietasters, Mad Caddies, The Toasters, Rancid, Flogging Molly, and the Bouncing Souls. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated. Thank you so much.

P.S. The above-mentioned CD's playlist can be found here and below, if you're interested:

First off, I want to make a mix that's about a summer romance, you know wistful, nostagic going to end. So far I have:

Fields of Gold-- Sting
End of the Summer- Dar Williams

Also, I've got a friend that's switching to a Liberal Arts school in Michigan next year and I want to make her a mix CD to remember me by. Anything about being able to count on someone, even though you barely know them, or just trust and loyalty and what not. And a friend leaving/being missed

HELP crossposted

I'm grounded for taking a friend of mine who was running away up to Michigan and then lying about it. I'm making him a mix CD to listen to while he is grounded. I need songs about long trips, Michigan, Ohio, crushes, friends, running away, drummers, & sleep. Anything is good, but he tends to lean towards the hardcore, emo, screamo, metal side of music, so those suggestions would be most appeciated since I have tended to lean towards the more indie stuff.
